The group pictured on Plymouth Hoe last Sunday claim they were “protecting” war memorials from Black Lives Matter, but there is more to this story than meets the eye. In the first place, the Black Lives Matter demonstration had NO interest in war memorials and went nowhere near the Hoe. By acting like there was a threat, they are smearing thousands of Plymouth residents who gathered to support Black Lives Matter, while the “protectors” sat about boozing up under the monument. If people going after memorials was what they really worried about, why were none of them watching the ww1 memorial just down the hill? Even more troubling, is several videos and reports of the boozed up lads shouting racist and sexist abuse at people. The plan to “protect” monuments clearly had an agenda behind it. We have uncovered that several figures from Plymouth’s far right were behind the action.
Please remember that while they claim to represent Plymouth Argyle and the firm “The Central Element”, most fans are disgusted by their behavior, for example:
Gavin Hewett
Gavin has been featured on our site before. He is a convicted racist and has been banned from Argyle grounds in the past. Why would a guy who goes round seig-heiling, protect a monument to people who fought the Nazis? Not out of respect for them, clearly.
Danny Robinson
Danny has also been featured on our site. You can see him in the photo, on the right holding the banner of terrorist group UVF. The UVF did the worst civilian bombing in the north of Ireland. He has been linked to far right action several times now.
Gary Miller
Gary Miller is in the photo above with Danny Robinson, carrying “The Central Element” flag. He is also part of the group with Danny and Gavin who present themselves as Argyle firm TCE and take part in far-right action together.
Darryl Hawke
Another “monument protector” who goes around doing nazi salutes. Is this how they respect the fallen?? Darryl Hawke is administrator of the Brexit Party Plymouth on facebook, and was promoting the action. He didn’t join them at the Hoe but instead filmed himself trying to wind up people at the Black Lives Matter demonstration, until he was removed.

A growing problem?
Plymouth’s far right should know the majority of people DO NOT support them. The more active they become, the harder we will work to oppose them. If there is a repeat of the racist actions seen on Sunday, we will publish the businesses and workplaces of those involved as a matter of public safety.
